After entering the conservatory in 1991 he got the opportunity to orchestrate for a full orchestra and learn more about arranging and recording. Since then Camiel played guitar in many different bands and composed and produced music for commercials, computer games, multi media products and fashion shows. In the summer of 2001 he was signed to G-REX. Nu-Jazz producer and guitar player Camiel released his first album Sunset four years ago, setting a new standard in the international nu-jazz scene.

Tracks from this album were used for several compilations from all over the world. Sunset was released in the Benelux, Spain, New Zealand, Australia and recently in the US. As a result of the recent US release, Camiel is now one of the most played artists on the American Smooth Jazz stations. (www.smoothjazz.com). Because of his American success Camiel and his band have been travelling to the States this fall for a small tour including two weekends on the prestigious Catalina Island festival on the shore of San Diego. Camiel released his second album On a day like this in Europe.

The album again contains a collection of high class Soul, Latin and Jazz flavoured songs. Some of the songs remind of Quincy Jones productions in the early eighties, other songs are indispensable nu-jazz and modern mixes of various styles. The album also includes the song Take me to this place which was already included on the album Café del Mar 25 Aniversario.

Because of the warm sound of the cd, On a day like this perfectly connects with the new trend of musical genres like Smooth Jazz / Nu-Jazz & Soul / Chill-out Camiel is a tremendous guitarist in the style of George Benson, Pat Matheny en Wes Montgomery and without a doubt one of the most talented producers in this genre.
