Citrus Sun are the cream of London's jazz musicians coming together in the studio under the guidance of Incognito main man Bluey, to create a smooth but unpredictable blend of soul/jazz instrumentals.

Each band member gets to compose and co produce, and thus creating a warm musical environment for the creators and ultimately their listeners. Where the Smooth Jazz genre has become formatted and albums sound like they are from a production assembly line, this one breaks the mould.

Featuring the fluid guitar of Jim Mullen (formerly of Morrisey Mullen and Average White Band fame) and the dynamic Incognito Horns and rhythm section along with Sade percussionist Karl Vanden Bossche, the band is always soulful and tight. Though the compositions are all originals, there are hints and flavours of early Crusaders, Tom Scott and Donald Bird. Drummer Richard Bailey (he of Jeff Beck "Blow by blow" fame), lays down his trademark grooves with a perfect balance of tightness and flair, whilst allowing space for instrumental layers to flow.

The backbone of the music here is the muscular bass of Julian Crampton who is at home on the 4 or the 5 strings. Ed Jones on soprano and tenor saxophones weave's memorable story lines on the bones of well crafted compositions. Trombonist Fayazz Virji whose resumé includes Basia, Jazz Warriors and Steve Winwood, along with Trumpeter Dominic Glover (James Taylor Quartet and Us3) play engaging solos and come through with some gorgeous arrangements.

Graham Harvey, whose expressive style on the Fender Rhodes has made him one of London's most sought after musicians, handles keyboard duties. He is joined by the space cowboy of the synthesither world Tim Vine (Us3 and Simply Red). Guest keyboards man Gary Sanctuary is featured on three cuts and seems to be the link between Grahams organic style and Tim's electronic adventures.

Add to the mix the artistry of sound engineer Simon Cotsworth and you get a high quality package. Ear candy at its very best!
