Most notably as the house band at The Lighthouse in southern California's South Bay area. Their music is a fusion of Latin, Caribbean and North African influences - an intermingling of guitar, percussion, strings, piano, woodwind and horns that create the special Gold Coast sound.
Our first album, "Latitudes", was enriched by a number of great jazz artists including Grammy nominee Patrice Rushen on keyboards; Gerald Albright on saxes and flute; Grammy nominees Ndugu Chancler and Terri Lyne Carrington on drums; Dave Carpenter on acoustic bass; Oscar Brashear on trumpet; and Mamak Khadem on vocals. Each guest artist enhanced the melodies by infusing them with their own creativity. We truly thank them for their wonderful contributions.
Gold Coast blends melodic compositions and arrangements, with natural acoustic elements. Our initial offering, "Latitudes", was nominated in two categories for the 2000 Los Angeles Music Awards. Out of over 2,000 submissions, the recording won "Best Jazz Guitarist" (Jon Coleman) and was a nominee in the Best Jazz Album category.
Over the years, we've played a lot of instruments and composed a lot of songs. To those who've heard us "live", we trust you'll revel in being able to listen to us - whenever. To those hearing us for the first time on-the-air, we hope our CD will be added to your home/office/car airwaves. If we can help you relax or enliven your day, then we know our musical gifts are appreciated - and for Gold Coast, that's what life's about….
