This is the new ' STREETJAZZ ' page of our new discussion forum at www.FaceBook.com/StreetJazzEurope page which has been set up for anyone involved in the jazz industry ie artists, fans, radio presenters, labels, promotional companies, servicing agents, PR companies, etc etc.

With our little radio show platform of the same name we are in constant contact with many people involved in the industry and would like to offer the platform to invite, comment, ideas, perception and advice between the forum members. I do not need to get involved other than to add the questions sent in by the forum visitors on this page and to control the page content. ( NO SPAM PLEASE )

I have been involved in the music industry since I was 5 ( so that is circa 51 years now ) and in the business world in marketing, IT and multimedia for circa 45 years. I always believe that the ' sum of the whole ' will always be more beneficial than the individual parts and by getting the experience of others together and their stories, it may help prevent new artists entering into the industry avoid the errors, grief and costs that they incurred. Conversely the synergy may offer new and fresh ideas which will benefit everyone.

With the proliferation of illegal downloads of artist's music, where is the jazz ( total ) music industry going, what can be done, what are the current artists doing to make a living ?

Where are the most effective mediums for new ( any artists ) to promote and sell their music ?

How do the current artists promote their music ?

Artists are sitting for hours on Social Networking sites collecting ' friends ', do they really buy their music ? Is the time spent worthwhile ? You only have to look at the number of people just collecting friends and 99% of them you never hear from again ! It seems just like an ego trip and a complete waste of time in my opinion.

We invite you to submit comment to these subjects and offer new questions that you would like answered. Perhaps by getting the collective heads together, we can help the industry and plethora of wonderful musicians who are struggling in a jazz music marketplace of circa 3 or 4 % of the total industry.

We have a daily BLOG TOPIC and we invite YOU to submit YOUR COMMENT for discussion or pass on comment on ones already posted there. TOGETHER OUR IDEAS ARE MORE POWERFUL.

I have been a musician and presenter all my life and would be horrified to wake up one day to find that the artists we could listen to were signed to major labels. Having worked with Sony Jazz myself for six years in the United Kingdom, even the majors are having a rough ride.

The forum is NOT for advertising music or anything else, just for constructive comment. If you do decide to join us, I hope that you can participate in the spirit of the offer.
