VISION JAZZ is Burt Shur (Drums/Percussion) and Chuck Leichner (Keyboardist/Composer). The band was formed in 2007 by two of the best musicians in the Denver area to explore and create new contemporary jazz music not just elevator music.

VISION JAZZ plays a blend of Groove Jazz, Smooth Jazz, and Latin Jazz. High energy music with great music with groove. Just releasing their debut CD "Distant Visions" is now playing on over 50 radio station across the U.S. and Canada. Also on this CD is Southern California's Incredible sax man Greg Vail and Denver's own “Bijoux” Barbosa In addition to their original songs, the main genre is the best of contemporary jazz fusion of the 80’s. Capturing such great artist as Dave Grusin, David Sanborn, Yellow Jackets, and Jeff Lorber to name a few. These guys are the real deal!

Biographies

Name: Burt Shur
Instruments: Drums/Percussion/Leader

Burt has been playing professionally since he was 14 years old. A Denver native, Burt joined the Navy at the age of 18. During his Naval service, he formed his own band aboard ship (USS Hancock CVA-19) backing up may major Recording artist touring with the USO shows. After his service, he stayed in San Francisco area where he played in various jazz clubs and was the house drummer at the famous Jazz club “The Reunion”. In 1979, he moved to Southern California and continued to playing clubs, concerts, and participated in extensive studio work.

In 1981, he traveled with Princess Cruise Line as musician/Leader and in 1982 was asked to backing up the Incredible “Ms. Judy Bell Show”. Appearing in several local show clubs including The Playboy Club (Century City, Ca & Columbus, Oh). During his career he has had the pleasure of performing with such recording artists as Joe Vento, Vicki Carr, Danny Kaye, Martha Rae, Max Bennett, Brian Bromberg and Robert Conti to name a few.

Chuck Leichner
Instruments: Keyboards/Composer

Chuck began classical training at the age of four. His passion for jazz was developed at an early age due to the influence of his grandfather's New York jazz trio. He played his first professional engagement at age 15. Over the next three decades, his love of jazz and improvisation continued to grow. Today, performance and composition in the jazz idiom continue to be the major focal point of his efforts.

Chuck creates and records contemporary jazz that combines full-bodied instrumentation with solid urban groove. His playing style has been compared to Herbie Hancock, Jeff Lorber and Bob James. Throughout his career, Chuck has performed as a solo artist and with a wide variety of groups spanning many genres. These include: jazz trios, quartets, big band orchestras, adult contemporary rock and cover bands. In addition, Chuck's keyboard experience includes studio session work and college jazz clinics with Dizzy Gillespie and Clark Terry.
